Hi! We are the sew sisters, Kamala Koddiappan and Kala Baskaran.
We love sewing and are passionate about teaching the art of sewing.
We started the Alisha Fashion and Dressmaking School in 1975.
Today, Alisha Fashion and Dressmaking School is one of the leading tailoring and fashion institutes in Singapore. It has also developed a reputation as ' the only Indian sewing school in Singapore'. Alisha Fashion and Dressmaking School has over the years, trained more than a hundred graduates. Women from all walks of life have successfully trained themselves to be skilled tailors and business entrepreneurs.
Over the years, we are always seeking to empower our students to unfold their innate potential and creativity within them to become skilled dressmakers.
Today, we want to share the skills, techniques and secrets that we have learnt over the years of sewing experience with you.
I’m Kamala Koddiappan. I am in fashion industry since 1975. I hold several certifications from local and International fashion industry.
I love sewing and it allows me to create so many wonderful things with my own unique touch.
I have always incorporated the latest trends in technology, ensuring to meet the needs of a dynamic economy.

My success stories is a result of my dedicated and professional teaching since 1975.
I am proud to have achieved the Lifelong Learning Award from Mr. Lee Hsien Loong , Prime Minister of Singapore, in November 2004, Singapore.
I am also thankful to have received ‘Little India Lady Enterpreneur’ Award 2004,Singapore.
I'm Kala Baskaran graduated in Pattern Drafting and Hi- Fashion Dressmaking in 1994 from Lasalle College of The Arts, Singapore.
I have also completed a Diploma in Fashion Garment 2001 from Bunka Fashion College, Singapore.
I have also acquired and mastered my sewing skills from my sister, Mdm Kamala, by working closely together, since teenage.
My passion for sewing and the years of experience has sharpened my teaching skills.
My love and willingness for teaching drives me to share the skills, techniques and secrets that i have learnt over the years of sewing experience with you.
